can't update software

I used bootstrapper to backup my system. now every time I download the new software update and go to install it, it says "update failed" and that's it. help please

Did you use z4root? Have you deleted any bloatware? If not, it sounds like CW is blocking it. You'll need to unroot if that's the case. Is the update for 2.3.340?

yes sir it is 2.3.340.en.US
i dont think I've ever used zRoot though
I forgot how I installed the root, I will have to look it up

I think I used Silentkilla's root x 2.2?
I'll try to see if it will unroot me

U can remove bootstrap in root explorer. There's no need to unroot for update. Ensure all bloat is back on the phone.

True...the update will unroot you itself and you'll have to re-root

check to see that you have all your bloatware still present, the update will fail without it. Root doesn't matter, you'll not have root after the update.

I tried to put ALL bloatware back on but it still failed but this time I saw an unpacking type of screen I haven't seen before. if my backups folder is in my /system/apps/backups should I remove the folder? tks
