Can't send email to multiple contacts in folders

When I want to send out an email to several people I have to scroll through the general contacts list which is hundreds. I want to be able to click on Send and then choose which folder to scroll through (ie family, favorites) and click on the recipients to send to. Can I do this, like I do on my regular gmail account? Thanks. Droid X

I'm not sure what you're talking about in the regular gmail account that allows you to do this. You can have groups set up and you would type in the group but wouldn't everybody in the group get the email.

I'm not following where you click off the names and such. Now I understand if you have 100 emails you want to set up you don't want to type up 100 names in the "To" area.

Maybe one of the mail applications would help pull this off for you. The thing that bothers me though is you say you can do it in gmail but are having problems doing it with your X. Gmail should be exactly like it is on line.

K9 and Touchdown are two apps you can try. I hear a lot of good things about both.

No group emails is a known issue to Motorola

I discovered soon after getting my Droid X that I could send texts to a Gmail group but not emails. Sending texts isn't even that easy. You need to
  • Start at Contacts
  • Access your contacts groups
  • Find the group you want (or create it)
  • Click on the group
  • Hit Compose (note pad with pencil on it)
At that point, you get two options, text group and email group. The text group button works, the email button doesn't. I called Motorola about this and when I finally got to level 2 the technician got herself a Droid X, followed the steps I just laid out, confirmed the email option didn't work, researched it and reported this as a known issue. They'll fix it someday, no promises as to when.

Meanwhile, I'm working on an app to do this. If I get that up (no promises, period) I'll post that as well.
