Cant connect kenwood USB HU

Hey everyone, just picked up an Incredible and use a Kenwood x693 HU in my car. For the last year ive used a usb drive for music and hoped i could load abounch of music on this SD card and play thru usb (and also charge my phone without havin to buy a charger)
when i hook it up i just get "reading" on the HU and the phone charges

do i need a special folder or somn to let the HU recognize what it needs to play?

Got it:
I needed to turn off usb debugging.

sorry for bringin this up again:

Realized now that when i plug my phone in, my HU only reads my phones memory not from my SD card!
Ive tried mounting/unmounting the SD card before plugging it in but still only access the phones memory.

Also it doesnt matter if usb debugging is on/off but I do have to change it whenever i plug it in. Like if usb debug is on and i plug my phone in, wont play til i click it off. likewise if debugs off and i plug in, i have to turn it on before it reads... silly stuff goin on
