Okay, so here's my situation. My fiancé's Fascinate's home screen has the option to add a custom home screen in a different way from my Droid X. There is always a settings symbol in the upper left hand corner and the home screen number in the upper middle of the home screen she's on. Those auto hide, but don't allow for any widgets to properly align to the top of the screen. Here's a screen shot of the icons:

So my question is: Is there a way to remove those icons so that she can align widgets to the very top of the home screen? I've tried Googling, but I honestly don't know the proper name for these icons, so didn't know what to search for. I've also searched this forum in to the fourth page with no results, so my apologies if this has been answered before. It should be noted that she is running 2.1-update 1 and I rooted it already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
