Cannot get Google Video chat to work between to Razr Maxx phones...

My wife and I each have a Verizon Droid Razr Maxx with the latest ICS update...we have never been able to get google video chat to work wither with GB or with the software upgrade. Both phones have been factory reset and the caches wiped. We both get a notice that the other one is online and available for video chat but the calls never complete. The invitation to chat goes to the other phone and accepting it opens up a video of the user (with a padlock icon) but not the caller...the connection then terminates. I have gone into the settings on the phones as well as on gmail on a pc browser and cannot figure for the life of me how to get this to work. I had success ONE time only with the GB version...but never again. I have posted on several forums and the only answer to date I have gotten is to use Skype...is anyone with a razr having success with google talk???
