Can someone explain the Android keyboard to me?

I'm soon moving from iPhone to android.

When I type on the iPhone, I don't have to do anything. I can mess up 100 times and when I press the space bar it automatically puts the correct word in there. I just keep on typing.

I just tried a Galaxy S4. I typed all wrong words and it just gave me choices on top for me to choose the correct word. It didn't fix it for me.

So I have to stop typing, choose the right word and then continue typing. I make a lot of typos so that will be super annoying and it will take me forever to type.

Is this usual behavior of Android keyboard? Do I have to install another keyboard that works more like iOS? Is this some sort of Apple patented thing?

I haven't really used iOS much but I find what your saying impossible. No keyboard can guess "fhjdikvfdjkgdddhh" = "ice cream"

With that said no keyboards prediction is better than SwiftKey.

There are settings to all keyboards and most of them allow the space bar to correct words for you, one simply needs to enable the option.

Swift key works pretty good, but I don't think you're gonna find any thing like the apple one. But I could be wrong..

Once you use SwiftKey and it learns your typing style you can type entire sentences by simply pressing space over and over. I don't know any other keyboard (iOS inclusive) that can do this.

I predominately swipe to type using the stock android keyboard though, I don't know why..It feels faster than the rest.

Where do you enable it in Android?

It's not impossible. I made like 4 mistakes typing that above; and I never had to select the correct word. It just put it there

The quick brown fox needs to do something.

Like that. I didn't have to CHOOSE "something". I just pressed the spacebar.

What I'm saying is in Android if I had pressed the spacebar it would've left the wrong word. It gives me choices on top for me to choose but doesn't do it for me.

I looked at the keyboard settings in Android. I turned everything on. Gives me the choices on top, but won't just correct it for me as I type.

I just typed that same fox line and did the same thing, just pressed the space bar.

If its the android stock keyboard tell me how to enable that. That's all I'm asking.

Because I JUST, literally 10 minutes ago, typed in a GS4 and it left the word "quicl" when I pressed the spacebar. I saw it on top of the keyboard but didn't do it. Just left it like that.

And that was really hard to do here. Actually type quick wrong.

Hold the comma or mic icon down and choose settings, see the screenshots. See the Auto-correction option, select it and choose Aggressive or Very aggressive.

If your using the S4 with the stock Samsung keyboard, then there is no option for auto correct. Samsung does not have auto correct on their keyboard, I don't know why but they don't. But Swift key is the best keyboard in my opinion

I think that's it.

I stopped by another shop. Tried a cheap LG phone. Has an LG keyboard and that keyboard is just like this one on the iPhone. Just tap the spacebar and it selects the word for you.

Good then.

LG G2 next month for me

Wow that's funny I usually turn that feature off. I often pick the secondary or third choice, but that being said I just turned it back on and it seems to work fine.

PS I use Swiftkey and it’s brilliant, but you gotta like the keyboard that you use. I had to try 4 different keyboards before I settled on SwiftKey.

Read good stuff about the LG, good luck.

from my spanking new Samsung Note 2

If I had to choose now, I would get a Note 2. Really can't beat it now for the price, even with the Note 3.

I was having an argument with a guy about it not being 1080p. I just looked at it at the store. I still don't think 1080p would be a inference. The screen is bright and crispy.

To be honest I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm trying to make a smooth transition.

Maybe ill end up using another keyboard.

No contracts here so I have to he careful. That's going to be $680 cash money.
