Can i disable the speaker completely?

Recently my droid x started having issues. Two hour turn on time and more notably the volume insists on turning up like the button is held down even when im not touching the button. I effectively cant use my phone. Any advice? I cant replace it tell i get home from hawaii

And im also getting a bootloader screen occasionaly. I'm truly at wits end. Please help. thank you.
