How do i get my camera on the X to find my location and how do i turn it off?

Whats the use for my camera finding my location, i would just like to see what it does and if it keeps gps turned on and if it drains battery life.

Can't say for sure on the X, but on the camera screen of my D1 there is a line of icons down the right of the screen. One of them looks like a globe. I believe it's used for GeoTagging photos. It can be turned on or off. I don't have visibility of the notification bar with the camera operational, but I assume it activates the GPS for tagging when on. When I return to my home screen, the GPS is not functioning so it must turn it off when the camera is off.
