calendar icon reads 31

In settings - more - date and time you can check or uncheck auto date and time and/or auto time zone.

I will try that.
My Motorola phone has always displayed the date there correctly.

As a note, my icon hasn't changed for the calendar and I have auto date/time set. Its one of the annoyances that Apple can do that.

My personal phone is a Motorola RAZR HD its date changes. My old droid x2 changed. This S4 is from my work and far inferior to my RAZR IMHO.

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but isn't the Calendar icon an "icon" and not a widget? An icon will be static.

If you wish a 1x1 widget that shows the current date and then opens a full screen calendar, there are widgets that do exactly that. Business Cal is one.

Calendar has its own widgets, but none is 1x1.

Yay, you should post that on the RAZR forum also and make you skip over the posts where some people are saying they got rid of their RAZR for the S4. Keep in mind, different strokes for different folks. When I look at my home screen, I see the exact date and time, so hmmm really no reason to look at the calendar to tell me what the current day is. In fact, I only look at the calendar when.........I'm checking appointments. :blink:
