Buying a phone through Costco

Another member on my line has an upgrade late this year, but I don't.
If I transfered the upgrade to my line through VZ.com, could I buy a phone on costco for my line still without buying it off contract?

Or would costco.com not recognize that I transfered the upgrade?

I went through all the questions with Costco before I purchased my Charge through them. You can purchase a phone through them on any eligible upgrade. When you get your new phone you can activate any number you want on it without any penalties. The customer service rep told me that they don't even care if I sell it to a total stranger after I get it.
