Brushed Aluminum Look

The bezel on my droid was beat up. and I got tired of looking at the silver showing throuhg the black. So I masked off the screen and the sides of the droid, and took 120 grit sand paped and sanded it down leaving bits of black. I think it looks better than before, and if I can find some kind of wrap for the back I think it would look like a new droid...Heres a few shots

if the paint is off. Sand it, like you did, alodine the medal, apply primer, then get some car paint (like a corvette red, blue)

Lol you really need to go over that with some finer sand paper. Go over it again with the 120 if you want then hit an auto shop and get some 600+ and smooth it out, then add a little bit of rubbing compound to polish it a bit.

If you going to go polished look then just as tooth said, you are goiing to have to step up your sand paper. Start with 120, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, rubbing compound, metal polish.

It's the same concept as this thread, except what he did to his Droid bezel was: masked, then stripped and sanded with varying grits, and then polished!

I think it's great you guys are doing stuff like this! I might do the same if my Droid bezel gets damaged.

Updated look..thats with 600 grit. I thought i had 1000, but couldnt find it, bu its smooth enough for me, and I like the way it looks. I may do something else to it later, but its fine for now....Sorry not into the shiny stuff, thats way its not getting polished
