This could get real interesting because this comes just one day after Googles conference.

This may very well be the Droid 2 on VZW's network. Looks like AT&T is getting the Droid as well.

Things are heating up.

Motorola: 2 New Phones At CES? - Tech Trader Daily - Barrons.com

**edit: needed to clarify that this article varies from previous mentions of the Backflip/Enzo running MotoBlur on 1.5. This latest rumor states they may be "Google Expereince" phones. So it's wait and see. Could be nothing more than the Backflip/Enzo or it's a whole new device.**

Hmm.... interesting. Sounds like that second phone for verizon might be the Droid tablet with the hump on the side.

I was planning to get my Droid on Friday, maybe I'll wait a few more days and see what happens.

Aww I still wanted to be able to rub it in my AT&T friends faces that Droid Does and iPhone doesnt

O well, I guess we still got the map :)

If you are purchasing the phone through Verizon, you aren't at much risk. Verizon will allow you to return it for 30 days. Up to you though since you are only waiting a week.

And the I think the article says that the new Android phone on Verizon would be running 1.5, not 2.0.1 as the Droid runs. (Read it early this morning.)

ETA: I accessed the article via Gizmodo, which also linked back here.

True, but it's just that we don't know the release date. It could come in February for all we know and I'd be stuck. But the fact that it runs something lower than the Droid shipped with is reassuring. Though the only way to make sure it to wait 7 days. Which I could be ok with, seeing that ill be with the phone for 2 years.

There's nothing wrong with at least having an idea of whats coming. Especially when I'll only be waiting a week...

Why not just wait forever?

After all you know there is a phone coming out in the future. If any of Motorola's phones are worthy of consideration then you can bet that they won't be released until closer to 2011. Wouldn't make financial sense to back the Moto Droid with Verizon's 100 million dollar push and then to turn out another phone in February.

It's pretty sketchy right now.

The newest article states they will be "Google Experience" phones but phandroid (posted Dec 16th) said they will be running MotoBlur on 1.5.

These things change so fast and are all over the place. It's a wait and see.

I'm hoping it will be a big announcement on the 6th.

ya i guess no one will be willing to change for a few reasons:

  • iPhone users dont know how to change a battery.
  • Ability to use a physical keyboard: forget that.
  • Still be closing out other apps so they can open new ones.
  • Removable storage? uncheck.
  • Still putting risque photos on their iPhones because they dont have an adult app store

I know i forgot some (a lot) these were just off the top of my head. Feel free to add more!

ahhh I don't know how that one managed to slip my mind

The original vision of Android had nothing to do with being carrier specific...as we can see there are Android phones on Sprint and T-Mobile. The OS originally was supposed to combat the likes of Windows Mobile and Apple...but not to push one carrier rather than another. The only reason why AT&T is ridden of an Android device is more-so because their agreement with Apple and their feeling that there is no real need for one. I do not see why sooner or later they wouldn't arrive...unless Apple stipulates in a future agreement that if they want them exclusive then they cannot sell Android.
