In a surprise move, Amazon and Twitch both confirmed today that Amazon will acquire the live-streaming gaming network for $1 Billion USD. Here's a quote with the details,

UPDATE: It’s official. Amazon has acquired Twitch for $970 million, the two companies announced on Monday.

It doesn't get anymore cut and dried than that. What's surprising is that the current rumor-mill pegged Google to be the one buying up Twitch. It's quite a shock to find out it was Amazon instead. We wonder what this means for the future between Twitch and Microsoft on the Xbox One.
