Brand New Rooter

I recently rooted my moto droid 1. tried to install sapphire 1.0 but couldnt get gmail accts to load (before that install i did the sapp 0.8.4 install) and nothing happened. i also didnt have a market app in my applications so i restored back to the nandroid back-up from before the install and am currently running the 2.2 version of the frg22d build.

when i was in the sapp 1.0 homepage i checked my build and it was like frg08d or something like that with a mod / rom version of sapphire 1.0 something or other.

anyways, i would like to get sapphire to work and still be able to install all my old applications as well as get all my google stuff back on the phone. If anyone has posted on this before i would appreciate a link or comments on the how-to. I am technically apt but like step by step instructions. (i have not looked through all the forums as to my problems and will do so right now actually, so you dont get mad that i didnt read!)

Thanks and im glad to be in the community!

Welcome! Glad you joined us. Here is a link to Sapphire's wiki for 8.4

In view of the issues you mentioned my sense is you did not install the GAPPS update.zip

Here is a copy of the notice on the wiki
Google Apps

As of 0.8.4, sapphire is no longer including google apps by default, for legal reasons. If you still wish to have the google experience installed, then please download the package below and install it as well.
Download sapphire-0.8.4-gapps-update.zip

Please note that 1.0 and 1.1 require this installation also
Hope this is helpful.

thanks for the quick replies! this is going to be the start of some amazing things for me with my droid. YAY!

Yep and it is lots of FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!:icon_ lala:

When ever you make a change to the OS (new rom, add/change theme, or add a new kernel) make a backup. It can save you hours of work and frustration.
