Rooting is the best thing that you can do to your phone its give u total control over just about everything

It can void your warranty but it also can give u great benefit in rooting. Do some research and get the full understanding of rooting and decide for yourself. I was once like you didn't know much about the rooting and hacking community but after doing some learning I found that it was the best decision I made. Rooted my D1 than upgraded to the DX and had it rooted the same day. I like all the option rooting give you

Yep im using launcher pro plus , and also if u don't like you can always uninstall it
