[Boot/Shutdown Animations] [5/9/11] A Huge Collection of Boots

Here's what you'll need to do to get custom boot/shutdown animations and/or sounds on your phone:
FOR ONES THAT ARE NOT FLASHABLE!!!!!!

1. Boot animation -- Add "bootanimation.zip" file to /system/media directory. To use any of the animations mirrored above, you'll have to rename the file to "bootanimation.zip" and then place it in the /system/media directory.

2. Shutdown animation -- Add or replace all .png files in /system/media/video/shutdown directory. To use any of the animations mirrored above, you'll have to extract all .png files in the .zip file to the /system/media/video/shutdown directory.

3. Startup sound -- Replace "PowerOn.wav" file in /system/etc directory with a .wav file of your choice. Just be sure to name it "PowerOn.wav".

4. Shutdown sound -- Replace "shutdown.ogg" file in /system/media/audio/ui directory with an .ogg file of your choice. Just be sure to name it "shutdown.ogg".


Most all have not been repacked for CWM3.. if it says flash in recovery - it is CWM2.x... if there is not any notation for flashing - it must be copied from the sdcard to the system/media file.

Epic 4g shutdowns don't work with cwm 3.x

If it says 2.5 its for that. If it says 3.0 its for that. If it doesn't say anything by it like the epic ones you need to install using astro or.root explorer

The file needed to change your boot-up animation should be a .zip file.
I successfully changed my bootup animation by doing the following:

Boot-up animation:
1) download a new boot animation .zip file (I put mine in /sdcard/downloads)
2) open Root Explorer
3) navigate to where you put the new .zip
4) copy the new .zip
5) paste it into /data/local
6) rename it "bootanimation.zip." (if it isn't already)

Also, if you want to change the startup/shutdown sounds:

Startup sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to a .wav file (using Winamp+.wav converter/iTunes)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/etc
6) rename "PowerOn.wav" to "PowerOn.wav.old"
7) navigate to where you placed the DL'ed .wav file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/etc
10) rename it "PowerOn.wav"

Shutdown sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to .ogg file (I used Winamp+.ogg converter)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
6) rename "shutdown.ogg" to "shutdown.ogg.old"
7) navigate to the DL'ed .ogg file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/media/audio/ui
10) rename it "shutdown.ogg"

8a] Again now, Menu>Multi-Select>Select All>Copy or Move
9] Navigate back to system/media/video/shutdown and paste. Make sure its empty before you paste.
**Note on my SF the 1st 26 png's display like the old verizon ones. Dont fret about that I dont know why it does but it does. Once pasted you're fine. The proper sequence will display on shutdown.
10] Close and power down to enjoy your new shutdown sequence.

Might seem complicated but I tried to make the above directions thorough thats all. Once DL'd this entire process literally should take 5 minutes.

Followed instructions for putting shutdown animation in system/media area and still doesnt work. *sigh*

just confirmed it works....just tested CRT Off shutdown and reverse scribble....I download the zip, take the folder in the zip and rename it shutdown if not already. then placed that folder on my SD card....main directory not in a sub-folder.....it works for me!
