Blockbuster App

I'm going through and uninstalling unnecessary apps on my Droid 2 Global phone. Interestingly, why is it that I cannot uninstall the Blockbuster app on my phone? It's the only vendor-paid piece of bloatware that will not uninstall.

I find this very inappropriate for a business-grade phone. Are they serious?

Money talks. Especially as Blockbuster is closing its brick and mortar stores, they need whatever edge they can find. Notice how there is no Netflix app?

Someone is getting their pockets padded.

They are serious, you need to root to get rid of it. Once you do use Titanium Backup to uninstall it.

Another option is Launcher Pro. Now it doesn't allow you to uninstall the app but you have the option to hide it so it doesn't show on the app drawer which is nice.

I advise caution. Many people learned when the Droid 2 Global received it's first OTA firmware update that deleting bloatware will prevent the update from installing.

Long story short, the OTA updates look for these preinstalled apps when they are installing, and if it does not find the bloatware, it will fail the update.

So, save some headache, and use Titanium backup (after rooting) to freeze the apps, not uninstall them.
