Blacking out the notification bar on droid x.

Is there a way to black out your notification bar without having to instal liberty or dark slide our any other rom?

I tried the app it does the trick with blacking out the notification bar but it makes your signal strength, 3g or 4g status unvisible, and your battery indication dissapear also. Other than that the app is fine.
