I am in desperate need of help. I am unlocked and rooted but 4g/3g sucks donkey ass. What are the best radios and where can I get it. Please help. Just lost internet and need it for work.

This differs from person to person, or probably more importantly location to location. So unfortunately, I think your best bet is to flash each of them and see which ones work best for you. There are also mixed (hybrid) radios some folks have reported to have good luck with. Meaning it has the 3G radio from 4.0.3 and the 4G radio from 4.0.4 as an example.

Side note, 4.0.5 probably will have new radios when it gets released.

I tried them all and never got it to work sadly. I ended up selling mine and going back to my Droid 1 for now. But at least try all of the ones in cupfulloflol's post. The 4.04 didn't help me out any but it was worth a try.

Thought you returned your Nexus for an Iphone 4s to sell?

Sorry, yes I returned the nexus and sold the iPhone on Craigslist. Either way, I sold it and went back to the D1 :)

Edit: What is strange is that I had the Nexus on CL for over 2 weeks at $400 and nobody even emailed me. I put the iP 4s up there and had 4 calls since last night. A guy picked it up today...

Shouldn't have sold it. The problem is with Vzw's exchange server, not the GNEX, or every other problematic LTE phone :D

My problem was never with 4G though, it was an odd issue with the voice/text connection. Numerous times I had a 4G signal and could browse/download/stream stuff, yet I couldn't make a phone call or text. Its all in my thread somewhere.

Marketing at it's finest =P

99% of people have never heard of the Nexus, 100% of people have heard of the Iphone.

It's the reason political candidates post signs everywhere for local elections, if dumb people see the name enough, they'll vote for them no matter their politics.

I can only speak to my own experience, so her goes... I have been using AOKP's ROM since build 24, and had the 4.0.3 radios with the 4.0.3 build and had the 4.0.4 radios with the 4.0.3 build. Both seemed fine, but I knew they could be, and should have been better. When 4.0.4 ICS dropped over a week ago, the Unicorn Crew went to work. Thier version of the 4.0.4 ICS build, with the 4.0.4 radios works like a champ. Signal is up, not just 'Bars' but measured signal strength. The Audio Volume is better on this build, probably due to improvements in 4.0.4. Give it a try and see what you think for yourself.

if the exchange server doesn't authenticate your phone's ID, then the tower your currently working off of will drop your 4g, 3g, or both. that's why signal problems have been reported with ALL vzw LTE phones :D

I don't think this is necessarily true for ALL instances. My first Nexus always dropped data, then I returned it for another, which does not drop data at all. My doubts are high that Verizon fixed their tower in my area within the ten hours I switched phones. Some of these Nexuses just have straight up hardware issues.

few things are true for all instances.

exchange server problems are inconsistent, and the fact that your new nexus works fine has nothing to do with your "tower being fixed", nor is it proof positive that your first phone was to blame :D

kinda missing the point i previously mentioned-all LTE phones have had reports of data drop issues. some more than others. (aka inconsistent)

i have friends that are engineers who create LTE networks for a living. i believe them over interent rumors

Well, it's not necessarily a rumor. I went from one Nexus, which had at least a dozen data drops a day, to this one which has had ZERO in the 2+ months I have had it, I have not changed where I live or anything either. I firmly believe that phone had a hardware issue.
