I believe the issues you are suffering are a combination of charging with the power on and the resultant meter becoming confused and out of calibration with the actual battery capacity and levels. A simple question, at what point are you deciding the phone needs charging? Also, how do you decide when it's fully charged? I suspect you are being misinformed by the meter and that is at the root of your problems.

Please follow the instructions below and report back in a couple days.

  • First turn off the phone.
  • Then plug in the power cord and allow the phone to boot to Charge Only mode.
  • Let it charge uninterrupted for 3 hours (or until the animated battery says "100%".
  • To check you can briefly tap the power button and release while charging, and in 3 seconds the display will light up with the animated battery.
  • Once fully charged to 100%, power the phone on and use it normally.
  • Watch your battery levels and as soon as the phone warns of low battery at 15%, power the phone off again and run through the same charging technique as before.
  • After that you should see your battery troubles gone for good.

This three-step process:

  1. charge to 100% with power off
  2. discharge to 15%
  3. charge to 100% with power off
...practice of "training" the battery meter should be performed every 2-3 months for the Droid RAZR, and every 3-4 months for the Droid RAZR MAXX.
