Battery drain after most recent OTA update of Verizon Wireless?

My Droid 4 has become a battery hog after the most recent OTA update from Verizon. It used to last one full day with a full charge, but now it doesn't last a half day even with a full charge. I resisted the update for so long based on the bad experiences I had in the past whenever I complied with Verizon's request. This time doesn't seem to be an exception.

Is it just me?

Battery drain has been an issue with Android updates for a long time. While adding new and improved features, every Android update on my DroidX caused more battery drain by Android processes (not third party apps) after the update.
Sometimes, you gotta ask yourself if the update is worth the hassle.

But this is unbelievable. A full charge lasts about 5-6 hours now, whereas it used to last one full day -- charge it over night and use it for the full day.
Does anyone know of a fix for this? Downgrade perhaps?

While recording the whole blood moon thing last night, on timelapse, my Droid 4's battery life was dreadful... and the kicker? I had it connected TO A 2.1A Charger, and not a cheap Chinese one! 1 hour and it's done. I'm losing my mind over this nonsense!

Are these batteries replaceable?
yes, but not as easy as old droids
Need a T5 Torx Screwdriver and Spudger or other plastic pry tool
see Motorola Droid 4 Teardown - iFixit
.
new XT894 batteries can be found @Amazon and @Ebay
OEM(original-EB41) batteries are safer choice, but are only 1735 mAH
.
Not many extended battery choices
Think there has been some positive reviews for New Sporting Replacement Battery for Motorola Droid 4 XT894+Screwdriver 2085mAh
If you want a huge battery look @ Mugen Extended 3800 mAH battery
I'm more than willing to, but I thought you can't remove them, at least without voiding warranty.
If you have owned it more than a year, the warranty has expired.

It's that simple? Time to go hacky hacky time with my Droid 4. About that Mugen battery though: Any other links for that sucker?

It's not too hard, links were good a couple of weeks ago...

After the update my battery would last less than 12 hours. It was never great to begin with even new. I replaced it with this, Onite 1785 mah:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CJDENDG?pc_redir=1400699206&robot_redir=1

I was skeptical about it due to the price but now for example I'm at 60% after 16.5 hours. It also comes with a torx. I've had the phone since it first came out and during that time the adhesive holding the original battery must have weakened, probably due to heat. It didn't take much to lift it out.

Just to give an update to this thread (haven't been around for awhile), I would like to note that the original battery tried to basically go nuclear on me  I think the battery I had was just a dud and needed replacement anyway. Once I swapped it with a new (not bulging) battery, my Droid 4's lifespan was very content.

So yeah... for anyone else out there with battery issues, replacing the battery on a Droid 4 is pretty painless and is well worth however much you put into it.
