Battery Difference Between Using WiFi/3G

So I was wondering if some of you guys could provide some insight on this. I notice when I am around the house on my WiFi my battery lasts much longer than when I'm out on 3G.

I believe I even use my phone more when I'm at home, because I don't use it much while at work.

I know using WiFi uses less battery than 3G, but should it be this noticeable for me?

Some useless stats:
My battery was at 40% after 14 hours (6 hrs on WiFi)

My battery was at 40% after 9 hours (0 hrs on WiFi)

^With about the same usage (if not more on the WiFi)

Wifi uses much less battery than a cellular radio, WHEN YOU HAVE GOOD SIGNAL. If you were constantly searching for wifi, you'd use more battery.

I don't know what insight to give, except to say that your observations are correct.
