Automatically disable buttons (menu/home/back/search) during fast thumb typing

Hello,
(Motorola Pro+ owner here, but this also applies to Droid Pro too)

Is there an application that automatically disables the buttons when fast thumb typing is detected?
It would make it so much easier to type long emails, without accidentally hitting keys that interrupt my typing.
It would be more comfortable for thumb touchtypists like me.

I'm also a software developer, learning how to program for Android. Would it be possible to program an app to do this easily? It would be a programmable timeout, disabling the buttons for a certain X number of milliseconds (i.e. 500 milliseconds) every time a keyboard key was pressed. That way, if you start thumbtyping a long email fast, accidental presses of the buttons would not matter and would not interrupt your typing.

However, I'd rather not reinvent the wheel. Does such an app exist?

Thanks,
Mark Rejhon

P.S. The iPhone onscreen keyboard uses such a behaviour for its microphone button on its keyboard. If you start typing fast, the microphone key behaves as a spacebar key, to prevent interruption annoyances.
