automatic gif viewing in text messages

I have been getting some text messages that have a gif file associated with them. When I open the text message I can hear audio associated with the message or can read any text, but do not see the gif. If I use the "Save Slideshow" option, and go the the saved area, I can then view the gif image. Is there any to make this happen when I open the text message?
