I know that if you exchange your Droid for a new one, your applications will be preserved with your Google account. But are your application settings preserved as well?

I'd rather not have to write down all my settings for apps such as Locale.

Not sure, I did not have much set up when I did a Hard Reset the first night....

I know under menu > settings > privacy ... you can set it up to back up your settings. But i don't know what that backs up and what it doesn't. And if you've already replaced the phone, that option would be worthless.

It doesn't back up any of the specific settings within each app. All it does is automatically reinstalls the apps on the new handset, assuming you activate it with the same gmail account.
