I was wondering if there were an app that would easily and quickly share your current location with another droid user. Basically if someone were to be at say a downtown festival and you were somewhere else downtown, they could send you a text message asking where you are, and you could shoot them a quick message back with your location, they use their map software and it leads them to you... assume neither party knows street names or anything. This could also work at an amusement park, or very large parking lot, etc...

I am sure this probably already exists, but I don't know about it...

Haven't looked closely at Androids Around, but the benefit of Google Maps' Latitude, which is already available on the Droid, is that it is also available to people using other platforms like the iPhone or Blackberry devices.

Lots of car clubs use Latitude to track their members' whereabouts when on scavenger hunts, etc.

But Latitude is so darn inaccurate as to be totally useless.

My wife and i try to use it. But even when she is sitting next to me, latitudes says she's 6 blocks away (if I am not "at the mall" on her Droud).

This is the same regardless of using cell and gps or just gps.

Accurate and useful, no way.
