In my place of work there are many different departments and many different people in those different departments that do different things. It can be hard to remember who is who and who does what. I normally just add a few descriptive words to the person's name to help me keep track of things. This can be beneficial but also makes for a very cluttered and out of order contacts list. There is now an app that allows you to add notes to your contacts while on a call or when not on call. You can view these notes while on call as well which can help if that person calls you and you forget exactly what it is they do or how you know them.
