Anyone walked the Appalachian Trail?

I just finished the Georgia section, talk about tough. To add to the fun, my last night on the trail, I woke up to a bear about 10 yards away from my tent. Talk bout being scared and one heck of an adrenaline rush. Luckily it ran away when I bounced out of my tent and started yelling at the top of my lungs.

I grew up in VA, so I've hiked all of the VA, MD, and PA portions, as well as some of NY and NC, it's always a blast.

Snakes are the most hardcore critter I've ever run across. I think my dog would have been eaten by a bear....

I've done a short section covering CT and MA multiple times. The worst I encountered was waking up in a few inches of water, everything soaked, and some good sized blisters due to another time getting stuck walking in the rain and being soaked. No hungry critters.

Haha, I only hiked up Bromley mountain in VT. Sat on a not functioning ski lift and drank beer (Long Trail Ale duhhh) - then hiked back down. It was so nice though. I really want to hike more of it someday...
