first you need to download a program to rip the movie from the dvd. then you would need another program to convert the dvd into a file format the phone can play back. you're not going to find either of those here, but a quick google search should get you what you're after.

or you can download a 3rd party app in the market to play whatever file type it is saved as (avi, mpeg, etc).

Use DvdShrink to extract the data from the DVD, then use HandBrake to rip it to a Droid format. Technically its illegal to rip the DVD unless you own it, but i'll leave that up yo you. You may have to also use something like slysoft's AnyDVD to get pass some copy protection schemes.

HandBrake is free and awesome for formating/converting videos to be used on anything. I just use the iPod Touch preset and it works perfect everytime.

To make it the best possible you would want to set the width and height to match the Droid's resolution. I don't know it off the top of my head, but maybe someone will chime in...

While I use and like handbrake, dvdshrink and others, if he's asking this question, these probably aren't the programs he should start with.

Look for a one shot program with a small learning curve like dvdcatalyst, I think you'll find less frustration.

+1 for DVD Catalyst, and there is also Audials (Tunebite), and PQDVD. All of these actually record the DVD as it plays. They do not RIP, and require you to do anything to remove copy protection and are supposedly the only legal way to do this. You do lose some quality in this process, but since the screen is so small you will not be able to notice it.

It is up to you the method that you use and liability you take on.

The digital copies of movies will not work on Android at this time which is the lamest thing I have ever heard of.

Whats the best settings everyone uses for their movies?

What setting makes the DvD fit the DroidX screen the best?
