Any Global phones from Verizon successfully getting data abroad with non Verizon SIM?

Hello Everyone,


I would like to know if anyone who bought a global phone from Verizon and tried using it abroad with non Verizon SIM was able to get data.

So far, it looks that only iPhone users were able to do it, all other phones are getting only voice. I have Droid 2 Global and never got data working (I tried different SIM providers, different countries, APN settings, etc - nothing helped)

I would like to hear that I'm wrong. If you were successful getting data abroad with any non Verizon SIM with your global phone bought from Verizon, please tell me

- your phone model
- if it is rooted
- SIM's provider
- country you were at
- if you were still Verizon customer

Note: I added a few extra lines since there are people who root their phones and who use Verizon's global phones abroad without being a Verizon customer.
