The Android One is Google's attempt to bring a phone with an AOSP experience to emerging markets like India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. This is not a top of the line flagship device, but is more designed to reach as many hands as possible and get as many people surfing and searching as possible. These phones are nearly vanilla Android with a few slight regional enhancements. Android One was announced back in June at Google I/O but has only been available for a few weeks. It has already received custom recovery and root, and there are now some other goodies like custom kernels that are beginning show up for this device.
