If you are rocking the Moto E you may be frustrated that Motorola and Google have seemingly forgotten about you in not providing you with the latest version of Android. Android 5.1 includes some security features, new ui enhancements, and plenty of bug fixes. You don't have to miss out on this any longer thanks to the development community. Developer "percy_g2" has released his AOSP build for the Moto E. So far it appears that everything is working except RIL on dual sim devices.
