Android 2.2 - Froyo

Yeah 2.2 app updates just fix issues with 2.2 or make them apps2sd compatible. So their app becomes 1.6-2.2 compatible when it used to be 1.6-2.1 so something. Not all are 1.6 compatible but you get my point. They are adding 2.2 compatibility, not making it 2.2 exclusive.

Quick note. MOST apps that are 2.x compatible are 1.6 compatible. There are only a few applications that require 2.1. Android 1.5 is the big sticking point right now. Hopefully whatever existing Android 1.5 units out there, yes Motorola I am looking at YOU, get updated to a minimum of 2.1 quickly.

2.2 hopes and dreams are starting to rule my life........I keep thinking about it and dreaming it will happen the moment I look at my droid.

I talked to a rep at Verizon recently about 2.2 and he had no idea what I was talking about. Like, I was informing him of this info. I asked him about the Droid Shadow that's supposed to be coming out in this year. I got the 'deer in headlights' look. :icon_eek:

So what does Verizon pay them for again? oh, SELL, SELL, SELL. I understand retail, I work in it. But a little product knowledge will take you a long way. I'm just sayin'.

Verizon employees are on a very strict need to know basis. I have a friend who runs a store in suffolk Virginia, and he has not heard a single thing about 2.2 or the Droid shadow. I feel confident in saying that us in this forum know much more about Verizon releases than the vast majority of their employees.

Sales staff especially is kept in the dark about upcoming stuff. You want them selling what you have in the store now, not what you MIGHT have in several months...

Wow this thread is ridiculously off topic. I remember on a car club message board I used to go to had a thread that got hijacked on the 5th post and went to 10,000 posts of just pure nonsense. Thats what this thread seems to be turning into. Out of the 1,151 posts in this thread I'd be surprised if 250 posts are actual useful froyo posts.

what does the siriusXM app have to do with froyo?? I'm slightly waiting for it but dont really care since Im canceling my subscription since I listen to slacker constantly. They said were getting it in may lol

All I want is an approximate release date, all this "soon" stuff is pissing me off. If there was atleast a time frame or an approximate date I'd at least have something to look forward to and not check the boards,engadget and droid-life every day hoping that theres new news about froyo.
