Allow iPhone wifi connect my Droid

I have read here a time or two about Droid users allowing others to connect and use their 3G connection when they had none available.
Is that something you can di with the std. 2.1 or do you have to be rooted to allow that?

I dont know about sharing the 3G signal, but you can use the 3G data and share it using WiFi to other devices. They will see the Droid as a WiFi hotspot and connect to it and have access to the internet. You need to be rooted and using a WiFi tether application to do it.
