all of a sudden today....

my gmail wont come in. I have to manually refresh to get it. Also, no notification sound either for mail. Any idead, my settings are normal like they should be. I am rooted,stock rom,running 2.3.30

I know it's obvious but have you gone into Settings > Accounts > clicked on your gmail account and made sure email was checked to sync? Sometimes it seems like mine will uncheck only email but leave calendar and contacts synced.

In addition to this, also try adding the power control widget or any other widget that has the active sync icon (extended controls, switchpro) and ensure that it is enabled...

That's true, that's solved problems for me once or twice too.
