What I meant to ask is: How do I get email addresses I have in contacts to "autofill" when I start entering them into and address or "to" field

I imagine you could go into your custom dicationary and add an email address as a new word. This way when you start typing that email it will show up as a recognized word.

All contacts that you have email addresses for will autofill in the to: field. They have to have an email address in your contacts for it to work.

Use gmail auto fill is built into it.
