ADB, UD 8.1.1 and ANSI?

Anyone remember when we had to load ANSI.SYS in DOS to see some screen files? When I go into ADB I see the same type of control characters. Anyone else notice this or know how to fix it? It's like I have a bad terminal mode selected on my PC.
