Account Syncing Settings

Yes, this is a very newb type of post, I looked online and did a forum search and can't find what I'm looking for.

I have an X2 (duh, I'm in this forum:)), rooted, and using Go Launcher EX as my launcher. I can't find a way to automatically sync my google (mail, calendar, and contacts) every 'x' hours or days. I go to Settings --> Accounts --> (individual account) and can select 'sync now', but I'd like to set it to every couple hours. Also looked through the Gmail settings, but can't find anything there either.

I'm also running JuiceDefender if that makes a difference.

Thanks in Advance!

You can tap on the google account in the accounts page, and it will show you all of the accounts that are syncing. Check the ones that you want to sync and it will "push" sync your various google products. Meaning that when there is a change, google's servers with push the change to your device. This saves a ton of battery life versus it checking every x minutes.

I hope that was a succinct answer.

Thanks for your answer. I know how to manually sync it, but that's not what I want. In an ideal world, I can set my personal google account (mail, contacts, & calendar) to sync say every 4 hours. My work account I'd probably set to every 7 hours or so (if I even set it automatically).

Is there a way to do this?

There is no need. If you change anything on your phone it syncs immediately. If you change anything via the web it pushes it to the phone. Most changes seem to hit my phone within 5 minutes. Yet it is not polling google every 5 minutes. It also tends to sync if you open any app that is google based. Gmail or calendar. There is no need to worry. It will keep up with you.

I think you're missing something here. It automatically is synced in real time. It's an on/off feature. This is a new concept if you've always used a mail client like outlook or something else. If you are sitting in front of a computer and your Gmail is open, your phone will actually get the email before you see it on the screen. It's tied right to Google's servers.

If your work account is not a google account, than you can set it to sync whenever you want using the "Email" program, not Gmail.

Do you see the difference?
