Do you have your calendar backed up with google? Although I don't see why refreshing the calendar would cause you to lose your items from the calendar....
Kind of new to smart phones. I never manually backed up any of my data up. I was under the impression that it was automatically done.
And not really sure how to check. I guess hitting refresh on the droid (just got it) erases events. Though it should give you a warning
that your about to lose your data.
entered some fake data on calendar and hit refresh. It's still there. Don't know how it got lost hitting it the first time. However still cant find lost calendar events.

GO into settings (on the phone not in calendar) go down to Accounts/ google.... Select google and verify that the calendar is set to sync.... I know with the S3 that will sync info to the stock calendar it should do the same on the Droid..... My guess is that it is set to sync them but the first time you did this it must of not had time to sync with the google account to save it there....
I have had the same issue Go to Settings/Device select apps from there it should say Downloaded Running and All. slide over to All Scroll down till it says Google services Framework it kills and resets all your apps i do that often but it does not reset your phone just your running apps
