I thought the whining might be normal for this type of charger.
The charger that came with my G-Nex makes the high pitched whine and it is LOUD & NOTICABLE. The pitch changes and is a LOT quieter when the cable and phone are plugged in but can still be heard. I came from a droid 1 and have never owned a samsung charger or a "travel charger" similar to this one so I thought it may be somewhat normal.
When I originally found what was causing the noise and unplugged it my son stated "Wow, Im glad you found that it was driving me nuts."
Could this be part of the reason this (particular)phone takes so long to charge? I am 110% sure it is NOT a wiring or power issue as it is plugged into the end stage of my UPS system.
