4G LTE power comsuption

Ive read in a couple places now that 4G actually consumes more power compared to 3G.

Is this true? I would think 3G would take more power downloading a 1/MB file for example because it would take a lot longer to finish than 4G.

Anybody know the facts?

Maybe people say that b/c now on a 3/4G phone you have two radios and not one? I dont know I would have hoped LTE would consume less power than 3G...

From what I read LTE should on the whole end up using less power than evdo. Of course these initial handsets need not apply for that power savings moniker since they still have to maintain evdo connectivity all the time for voice....... but once the phones move completely to LTE the radio should have some power savings over 3g
