$40 Android Tablet

Maybe some of those students will buy them for $22 and sell them on eBay for $50.

lol... i'm just impressed by a government that is going the extra mile to make sure their younger generation will take the country forward.

If that doesn't give Apple some things to think about...

I actually had one of those $120 tabs from China with Android on it and it was horrible. It performed slow, froze up a couple times, and the digitizer broke within a couple months. I have since replaced it with a proper tablet that is the Xoom. They're sold cheap for a reason...

I won't say it with absolute certainty, but I'm pretty sure this doesn't really threaten their business with the iPad. There have been numerous cheaper alternatives with Android on it and it's basically had no effect on Apple. It's the tablets with Honeycomb that are a threat, not some cheaply made ones.

Sounds like some of Motorola Smartphones running the latest Android :^)

At that price point, people aren't expecting a high-end device; just something functional, and I doubt the quality is going to be much worse than an average Smartphone.

Looks like that low-cost $35 Tablet will get Android 4.0 before my DroidX does!

"The second-generation Aakash 2 will have a 7-inch capacitive multitouch screen and a faster single-core, 800MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, said Suneet Singh Tuli,CEO of Datawind. The tablet will ship with Android 2.3,but will be upgradeable to Android 4.0 about six to eight weeks after delivery,Tuli said."
