4.5.601.en.US & 4.5.601.A955.Verizon.en.US difference?

So, I just got a stock unrooted D2. I don't have service with it yet & won't for a while, but wanted to try the new GB in the meantime. I connected to wifi, checked for updates, & Motorola is wanting to push "4.5.601.en.US" instead of the "4.5.601.A955.Verizon.en.US" update. I need this phone to stay a native Verizon device, does anyone know if there's a difference between these two updates? Thanks!

I guess no matter if there's a difference between the two updates, I can always SBF back to the original pre-Gingerbread Verizon 2.2? Can someone confirm if that understanding is correct?

You should be able to sbf without any trouble.

Finally got around to doing the OTA update over wifi without any active Verizon phone plan. All seems to be fine & System Version shows as "4.5.601.A955.Verizon.en.US". Now on to root...
