same here, Google contacts are the only way to go; you can edit them on a computer, they're automatically and instantly backed up when you edit them on the phone, and automatically installed on a new phone as soon as you connect it to your Google account. Light years better than "phone" contacts and dealing with Verizon's crappy backup software.
