3G or 4G always shows when on wifi?

I just bought a used razor m and have liked it so far, but is it normal for the 3g indicator to be always there when I'm connected to wifi? Sorry for the noob question. I also noticed that I have been on 3g most of the time when I'm out and about(cdma/lte mode) thanks.

I just noticed that I have to toggle the "data enabled" setting to off in order for the 3g to go away. Answered my own question. Ha ha.

I can honestly say that this phone has worked much better than my Verizon GN. That phone was a POS. I feel that the razor M is snappier, the signal is much better and the build quality is pretty good too.

Texting goes thru data, so it stays on but other stuff goes thru WiFi. Even with data off I've gotten texts. Strange...
