For the last couple of days I haven't seen a 3G (or even 1X) icon on my Droid in San Diego. I don't have WiFi at home and all the free spots I found seem to be crippled so I can't update apps or receive my emails when I'm out.

Is there a general outage of 3G in San Diego, or just some spots? I admit that our house is situated so there is only a couple of "sweet spots" that I can get 3G, but normally it's good if I walk away a couple of blocks. I've driven for miles and no icon. I powered down in each place and I see 3G during the boot-up, but it goes away quickly.

This is an unrooted Droid on 2.1 OTA.

do you have switchpro widget installed by chance?

Why, yes, I do. I gather by your comment there's a problem; what is it?

Not yet, it does work as a phone, but no email, Facebook and no weather when on the multimedia dock.

EDIT: Thanks, Jcardona. That was the problem. There's a setting for "Use APN Toggle," which was unchecked.

Thanks Sam for replying. I figured I'd get more help here than at Verizon.

that should be it! the latest update killed 3g by default. not sure what the dev was thinking. open up the switchpro app (from your app tray, not by adding the widget). check the box that says "Use APN toggle".

im pretty sure that's your problem right there

That was it, thanks. 6 updates, including one from Switchpro.
