2 Text sound alerts

Can anyone help me not get 2 sound alerts when I get a text..I'm using Handcent..Thanks

Go into your stock text application hit setting and uncheck notifications, and done.

I have nothing checked on the stock app and it still Beeps Twice..

This might help you, I also found it to be the stupidest thing... but in Sound under Settings there are choices for the notification ringtone AND under messaging settings at the bottom there is notification settings. I had vibrate disabled for my phone and the damn thing was still vibrating on text messages. Was searching and found there is an additional vibrate setting in that menu.

In my Sound Settings, tapping Notification Ringtone only gives me choices of ring tones, no choice to turn it off. Am I blind?

What I am wanting to do is turn off the notification tone for e-mails, and have only a notification tone when I get a text message...
