2.2 rom root?

can i root the 2.2rom if i upgrade OTA from verizon

It depends on your interpretation of what root means. I'm guessing your asking whether or not you can root a phone after upgrading the stock ROM to stock 2.2 (if/when it's available). In that case, it's pure speculation. We'll see what happens in the future, wont we?

2.1 is not unrootable!!!! Installation of 2.2 can be done quite easily and when you are done you will be rooted.

You do not have to roll back to 2.0.1.

You need to download and install SPRecovery and RSD lite. Once you have that you can flash SPRecovery and then install the latest version of Froyo. No rooting is required. 2.2 will actually root your phone when you install it.

Unfortunately no. You will have to wipe data and cache. Log into google before hand and you apps will reload automatically. This is supposed to work on all versions of android but works much better and faster on 2.2.

no im not rooted. thats why i was wondering...i was gona wait and hope for 2.2 to have a securite malfunction so i could root. because i had been told soooooo many times that 2.1 was "unrootable"

2.1 is rootable but once they officaly release 2.2 they will follow with a 2.2 rooted one like they did before with previous releases.

There are a couple of guides out there. Look in the hacking section.

By the way, you do have to do a wipe as mentioned but you do not as I said previously have to be rooted. 2.2 has a root built into it. All you need is RSD Lite and SPRecovery.

Then it's just a matter of doing a back up, a wipe of data and cache, and then installing Froyo.
