We are not really expecting to see a huge design change for the Galaxy S9. That being said Samsung just filed for an interesting new design patent. The patent showcases a 180 degree wrap around curved display where the display would fully wrap around the sides of the phone touching the back. This might make for some interesting use cases. By now you have more than likely seen the squeezable sides of the U11 or the Pixel 2. This may be Samsung's answer to that. It would be a shame if such technology were used only for launching the Bixby, but who knows this could be a replacement for the Bixby button.

We are so close to the launch of the Galaxy S9 that it isn't likely we would see this technology there. Perhaps we see this with the Note 9 or some other device before the end of the year. Samsung has been working on a flexible-foldable display, and this could be their first use of that technology. This could also be vapor ware since these are just patent filings. Would a full wrap around display be an interesting feature to you?

This is going to be Really Interesting to see what Kind of Durability the Display will have from Drops. Cases will not work Well unless its just top and Bottom Bumpers.

its going to be tougher to protect the real estate. it is hard enough now with the current edge. wonder if any extra gestures will be worth it. also wonder how much it will add to the cost of the phone and glass repair.

Personally with the supposedly getting close to Flexible Screen Tech maybe this can aide to More Durable Screens.

We are looking at this all wrong. Instead of finding ways to protect the phone from drops, we need to find ways to keep humans from being so darned clumsy. :p

not going to happen so its the phones fault :-P

I have read reports where just bumping the side of the edge into objects have broken the screen. they claim the bend is weaker.

battery would only last 3 hours instead of 6 with screen on back. who knows, knowing samsung they are stupid enough to try it.

It's been done, albeit with a reader screen.
Actually, your battery would last longer if you used the reader screen as opposed to the main screen and it's not like they would both be on at the same time.
