12/31/1969 issue with voicemail notification

My voicemail icon is on notification bar. There is no voicemail. When I touch to see the voicemail it dials my voicemail and allows me to only leave another one. I then noticed that it was dated 12/31/1969 which I understand is kind of a mystery thing around this forum. I also noticed after looking at some files through Astro file viewer, that some files are not recognized types and also dated 12/31/1969. It won't leave the notification bar when I clear it either. Have tried powering phone down both gently and by ripping out the battery. Nothing seems to help. Can anyone help me here?

Huh? When you access your Verizon Voice Mail, your only option is to leave another voice mail? Weird, I've never heard of that one before.

When i pull the drop down from the notification bar where it states i have a new voicemail and I select that notification, it dials my voicemail number only to hear that i am not available and to leave a message. I keep thinking if i select it, it will then go away. all it does is enter me into a vicious loop because every time i select that, it thinks i have another voicemail because the notification selection dials it. so weird...:icon_eek: i am using google voice for my voicemails, and up until that icon that won't leave, it has performed flawlessly, and it is still working great.

I got the 12/31/1969 on my last flight when I had to change battery. Seems its the system default, once I could turn cell and data back on it corrected.

I wasn't changing time zones. My phone was beside me and it just happened. So strange. Has anyone determined if there is a 12/31/1969 virus or better yet a solution?

That's the weird thing. When I dial my voicemail to listen to any messages it tells me that I am not available and to leave a message. I do not have any other options. Just to leave a message only.

Finally got VZW tech to help me. super simple fix. Don't know what they did, but after talking to two people, took about half a minute and me pressing like 3 buttons and it was gone and so were all of my folders that were marked with that same 12/31/1969 date. Bizarre but fixed, so yay! Thank you to everyone who tried to help. Really appreciate it.:icon_ banana:

Does anyone know what "3 buttons" it is. I have the same problem. Voicemail icon on notification bar that can't be cleared and dated 12/31/69. I also receive e-mails that are blank and dated 12/31/69.

Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

I had to hit *73 to disable Google Voice as my default voicemail, then dial *86 to get into my messages and listen, change, delete (the tech said any action will do). When I looked back, the notification for voicemail was gone. I just kept Verizon's voicemail as my default. I don't know if this help with the emails as I didn't have that problem. But all the weird folders marked with 12/31/1969 went away. Good Luck. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much cymbiedroid. Worked perfectly.

It was driving me nuts. I hate clutter on my phone and that was clutter.

Again, thanks.

Well this is nice to know. So the whole time I was asking you to make sure you were accessing your Verizon Voice Mail, you were still only accessing your google voice mail.

Thanks. Glad you got it fixed.

Yes, that was the whole issue. Even when I cleared the default, it was still Google Voice. When I did access Verizon voicemail, it only gave me the option to leave a message. Just very weird what can get "locked in." I am glad it's fixed, too. I hate clutter on my phone as well.

Thank you, again.
